General Appearance: Neville was known as a child for his round, soft face graced to him by his mother and his sloppy mop of black hair. His warm brown eyes are always expressing a jolly nature that is shown in his enthusiasm for almost anything he does. Throughout the years, his jaw has become sharper, his round cheeks losing their heaviness on his face. He has continuously lost weight that he bore as a child. His pastey white skin expresses color when he blushes, but embarrassment rarely comes to the valiant Professor Neville. This handsome young man is the person standing before everyone today.

Background: Much was never known about the relationship between Frank and Alice Longbottom before they decided to get married. A year after they had their only son Neville, however, Frank and Alice were captured by Death Eaters after the fall of Lord Voldemort. Bellatrix performed the Cruciatus Curse upon the couple in an attempt to get them to reveal the location of where Voldemort had fled to. The torture drove them insane, and they have since lived at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries in Ward 49. Neville continues to visit his parents in the hospital, although they do not recognize him. As a result, during his child years, he lived with Augusta Longbottom, who he referred simply to as Gran. She was a tough woman who somewhat scared young Neville, but she is very proud of her grandson.

At a young age, Neville was tricked by Algie into showing some magical ability as a child. He pushed him off the end of Blackpool Pier once and nearly drowned him. Algie held Neville out of an upstairs window when he was eight and accidentally dropped him, only to see the boy bounce all the way down the garden and into the road; this was cause for great rejoicing in the Longbottom family. Neville was sorted into Gryffindor the same year as Harry Potter. The two grew to be close friends, and he was often by his side during memorable events. Neville killed Voldemort's snake during the Battle of Hogwarts and was famed for his bravery. It was also found out that between the two, either Neville or Harry could have been the predicted one of the prophecy revealed by Sybill Trelawney. After finishing his years at Hogwarts, Neville briefly became an auror before settling down and marrying Hannah Abott. He has now began teaching at Hogwarts as the Herbology professor and has a family of his own.
