Late afternoon was a pleasant time of day, the setting sun offering a pleasant coolness with just enough light to keep you from being chilled to the bone. Bryn was dressed properly for fall...well maybe if she had lived during the eighties. Her shoes were normal, just a simple pair of black converse, the white having been colored a dark green. It was hard to pay attention depending on the class and she had a penchant with sharpies. Dark green leg warmers came next worn over a pair of leggings that clung to her shapely legs. Next was a denim skirt that without the leggings would have been risque in length. Above that she wore a long sleeved white button up with a dark green jacket.
"Silence finally...."
Hazel eyes darted around, enjoying her little piece of solitude. Bryn knew that it wouldn't last long, for it never did. It seemed like as soon as the little slytherin found herself alone, someone always had to come along and ruin in. Depending on that person's house and age she had found ways to amuse herself. Thankfully Bryn was a tactical little witch and knew when to behave herself.
Legs would carry her to a little stone bench, her lungs pulling in a deep breath of cool air. And there it was, her peace was over. Bryn sniffed the air lightly, trying not to draw attention to herself in case the female headed her way was able to see her. It's rather difficult to explain to anyone why you would be smelling the air, when no one but you can smell anything other than the basic scents of nature.

Mariko had just spent a long time studying, then a long time sleeping, and then a long time getting yelled at for being late to class. She was annoyed to say the least and needed the comfort of nature. Being alone in a secluded place by the ocean her entire life had made her pine for the smells of green foliage and sea salts. It was almost perfect out, although a little hot for her taste, and she was happy to be alone and outdoors.
At least she thought she was alone. She spotted a girl sitting on a bench near her and decided she would have to move along. Unfortunatly that was easier said than done. Mariko tended to stand out when she went places and today was no exception. In the spirit of fall she was wearing an orange, sleeveless, knit turleneck with close to five different lengthed and colored necklaces dangling in front of it. Her pants were jean but a brown color that had various floral embroderies she had created herself. The big deal was her shoes. She wasn't quite sure how you walk quietly by someone in a pair of orange stilettos without making a sound on any kind of surface.
So she headed off in the direction as carefully as possible but between the books in her hands and her seemingly careless balance, disaster was inevitable. Mariko got close when..
Ohhh!! My!!!
Books went flying and papers tossed themselves like leafs in the air! Mariko had just fell flat on her face almost at the feet of the stoic looking woman on the bench.

Hazel eyes watched as the girl who blazed in orange began to head her way. A snarl came from under Bryn's breath and she was thankful that even the girl wasn't close enough to hear it. Then came the most humorous part of this little slytherin's day.
The girl that had been heading her way had fallen right on her face. Bryn couldn't help but laugh. Her laughter carried through out the courtyard, echoing back slightly thanks to the castle acoustics. Tears sprang to her eyes as she held her sides from laughter. A kinder person would have offered to help the girl up, but Bryn remained on her bench doubled over trying to breathe properly.
Once she had finally found a slight piece of composure, Bryn opened her mouth to speak.
"Walk much? I'm gonna guess you're a ravenclaw. No one else would be so stupid to wear those tacky heels and then try and carry to many books. Tsk tsk, where was your so called intelligence on that one?"

Mariko brushed off the girls comments with the dust on her pants while she stood up. This was obviously the wrong time to be anything close to her normal self but she turned to the girl anyway with a girlish smile and spoke sweetly.
It seems that your lack of tact would make you a Slytherin. I suppose I should introduce myself because your obviously not going to start. My name is Mariko but I am sometimes called Rin. And before you say it, I already know you don't care.
Mariko took a deep breath. Her mother always said her bad traits were assuming what people thought and patronizing people for those thoughts. She was doing exactly that to this young girl. She knew in her heart that the person in front of her didn't deserve it but she didn't care. Something in her blood boiled past her normal well kept exterior. Something she and no one else could explain to her. So she starred coldly into the girls eyes awaiting her harsh comeback.

Bryn watched the girl stand, her face blank and impassive. It was the fact that this girl said something that began the laughter again. Bryn fought with all her might to stop, choking back her giggles.
"Don't act like you know everything just because you're in ravenclaw. You are right I am a slytherin, but you have no idea who you are speaking with. Mind your tongue witch before I hex it out of your mouth."
Bryn had kept her tone sweet and innocent, but obviously that was the last thing this girl was. Sure she had her nicer days, but with the full moon growing closer with every night she was a bit on the irritable side. Bryn had been trained by the best in combat, but she had wits of her own and a tongue sharper than a razor blade.
Her eyes were bright with anticipation, just a few more exchanges or less and Bryn would surely react. She just hadn't planned out how she would ruin this girl's day. [/blockquote]

Mariko was shocked! What was this girl thinking! Who was she! She knew that people especially liked to pick on those in Ravenclaw but this was something different. Mariko was tense now. She had felt this way before and she knew it would be hard for her to remain controlled and aloof. She anticipated what was happening and she became frightend. This girl had no idea what she was in for and was picking a fight she could not win. Mariko took a deep breath and with it she smelt something intersting. The rage the girl infront of her felt. She could feel the air mixing around her as if they were similar. As if she knew this girl....
At that moment Mariko realized she must have looked stupid whipping her head around in the breeze. If this girl wasn't like her then she surely thought she was crazy now instead. Mariko let out a laugh at the idea! That probably also made her look a couple points closer to insane.
"I'm sorry I swear I wasn't laughing at you, it was at myself...well its kinda hard to explain but...okay I'm crazy! Think what you want and I am crazy!"
She couldn't help but continuously giggle at her rantings because she was sure she either confused or insulted the girl before her. Mariko was in for a long day and she had already made a fool out of her self several times.

Bryn watched the girl's movement, her eyes wary. She knew that actions the girl was preforming having done them herself many times. With that she would sniff the air lightly, not shaking her head around like a fool. Bryn knew how to camouflage it better than the girl before her. The girl gave off a subtle scent of musk and forest, she had either been around a werewolf today or the blood ran through her veins. Bryn quirked a brow but kept these thoughts to herself.
"Trust me, I doubt you would laugh at me for I have done nothing worth laughing at. You on the other hand should probably be locked up at St. Mungos for the way you are acting, I doubt that people here are safe from you....unless of course your outfit doubles as a straight jacket...."
Bryn's face remained slightly blank, though an evil smirk still danced upon her lips. She remained breathing through her nose, trying to be sure of her thoughts on the girl's heritage without giving her own away. Bryn had been trained by her father for a little while, but after his death she had kept up the work on her own. She may be on the small side but this girl was a brilliant tracker, and a strong fighter should the tables turn in that direction. [/blockquote]

Mariko was almost taken back by the girls disposition. Sure she thought she was crazy but that was expected toward a laughing loony. Though something seemed amiss to her and she could not explain it. This girl not only smelt different but she felt different. Mariko felt as if she had known the person before her for the entire span of her existence but she could not pin point why. It was for sure that they had never met or as much as bumped into each other before or Mariko would have been curious earlier.
She nodded and stepped back in a courteous manner that she had been trained for her entire life. She mad a small bow and stepped as if she were to leave and apologize but something was troubling her. Something deep down told her -DO NOT leave this person!- It was yelling at her inside like an ancestor from beyond the grave sealing her to the ground. But how did she fix the all so less than glib mistakes she had already protruded between their acquaintance? She made a bold move.
"May I say...we have met somehow. I cant explain it but I know you must know what I mean. Please don't take it as my CRAZY ramblings I have first shown you for I am not what you see. But something has willed me to ask who you really are?"

Bryn quirked a brow, this girl couldn't possibly be from the same planet, let alone the same school. Her face remained blank except for the slight sneer upon her lips and the defiance that blazed in her eyes. She stifled a giggle as the girl bowed to her. The amusing part of it was than little Bryn felt that everyone should bow before her, but she normally kept that little piece of narcissism to herself.
"May I say...we have met somehow. I cant explain it but I know you must know what I mean. Please don't take it as my CRAZY ramblings I have first shown you for I am not what you see. But something has willed me to ask who you really are?" Was this girl actually serious? Bryn wouldn't talk to her if someone had paid her money. As for what she really was, she would never explain that. Thankfully she had hidden it well for the last four years here at Hogwarts, no one had any idea.
"You want to know who I really am? I am better than you on a thousand levels. I am pure of blood and a slytherin. Other than that you deserve to know nothing about me. The most you should do is grovel at my feet and beg for my attention you swine!"
Alright so today wasn't a nice for Bryn but with the upcoming full moon she wanted blood and knew that it wouldn't be hers to get. She may be a witch but she wouldn't harm an innocent. So she spent three nights a month chained in isolation. Her mood always turned sour before that, because lets be honest no one likes being chained up. [/blockquote]

Mariko smiled at the girl. She was sure this was going to make her pretty angry but she didn't care. She could tell now that the person in front of her was hiding something. Although Mariko seemed like a under educated space case she was actually very observant and calculating. The show this girl had just put on had gave her all the reason to suspect more. And there was always more. Mariko grew up naive but when her mother disappeared she learned quickly that no one is the same as their "face value". This was all to obvious to her now and she knew these insults and hard outer shell were just to cover a deep secret. A secret that Mariko not only wanted to know but felt like she needed to know
"I am not here to be your enemy and I am sure you are more pure blooded than I am but I am not sure if that is the issue right now. You will not get me off track with an argument and you will not swade me with your violence. I need to know who you are and we can make this much easier with a simple conversation even though I'm sure thats not your usual style."
Unfortunately for Mariko that was her usual style. Even being a were she had never killed or enjoyed the sadistic ravages of spilled blood. She had only enjoyed the outdoors and the earth beneath her. Someone like this girl would probably consider her a hippie wolf and mercilessly prod at her for it. But she was not going to give up at this point and she just hoped for both their sakes this idea went well.

Bryn shook her head, this girl just wasn't listening. Was she truly that daft? Could anyone be that daft? Bryn wasn't sure if it was possible, but she supposed she was about to find out.
"I've told you as much as I am going to tell you. There is no reason at all for you to know anything more about me. If I am in any way unclear, then I suppose it will have to be carved into your flesh so that you can use your smarts on your own time to better understand.
Bryn's voice was calm and cold. With nothing more she would stand, and begin to turn away. She was done with this. She no longer cared what the girl was or who she knew. Bryn had reached her level and now it was time for her to make her exit. [/blockquote]

Mariko panicked! What was she going to do!! She looked around to see if there were a lot of people in the area. She saw no one and the air was quiet. She didn't want to cause a scene but she was pretty sure it was past this point by now. She thought that a scene was the only was she was going to get anywhere but at this point she wasn't sure of anything. She held her breath but didn't hold back. She let her body take her and just used instinct...
Then it happend...Mariko's brain made a rash, bold, and what may be soon considered stupid, move. She lunged forward and ran toward the girl. She managed to tackle her to the ground at the legs barely. Mariko felt the hard cold area below her and at that moment had almost realized what she'd done. It still hadn't hit her, but she was sure the reality of the situation would very soon.
They were now both on the ground. Mariko was stunned and almost nothing could slip through her lips and her lungs hurt from holding her breath and the the heartbeat that had now moved into her chest. She could only let a few words escape her as she lay there.
"Not yet..." She whispered quietly behind the mysterious girl.

Bryn was content and happy to go. Her mind mused over the few moments that she had been around that absurd girl. As she was mulling over the thoughts a strange noise caught her attention. She turned to see what it was, and down she went.
She landed hard on her back and elbows. It was everything to had to hold back a snarl of rage. That wouldn't look nor sound very good at this point. The girl's pitiful excuse for stopping her was definitely enough. A sharp kick was aimed at the girl's arm as Bryn tried to free her legs.
"I don't know where in the heck you come from but stopping someone like this is illegal you moron. Let me go, before I do something that no professor will be able to change back!"

Mariko was still catching her breath and was happy it hadn't elevated to far. Between the shock and the slight fear of what her instincts had thrown toward her she had barely felt the kick to her arm but her hand still released almost on its own. She starred at the girl and saw the anger on her face. Mariko could understand since if someone had done the same to her, she would be livid. But still, Mariko was desperate and was sure she had made that more than apparent. It was hard for her to explain and was going to be harder for anyone to understand, but she felt a profound bond between them and in her upbringing she was taught to never let that go.
There is no such thing as coincidence...only the inevitable. She could still hear hear her mothers voice speak in her head. Inevitable she thought. This was the pure definition of that such moment. The person on the ground in front of her knew, or was something, important to finding out more about her own life and she was not about to stop where she was no matter the girls warnings. Mariko was not stupid, she was just determined. Determination, curiosity,.....coincidence....they were all just words at this moment though. She had to think of something to change the situation but all she could do was stare.
The stinging in her arm started going from numb to fiery. She wanted to grab it but tried to ignore it so she wouldn't show any more weakness than she already had.
"You need to listen to me and this will not have to get any worse than it already has" she started almost unsure of herself. "You know something that I can not explain but I am willing to try to explain if you would just wipe the sneer off your face and listen."
Getting more boisterous with each sentence she continued, "I did not come here like the rest of you to make friends and take classes. I came here to find something and to uncover answers. You are the first step to that so unfortunately I can not let you go anywhere just yet."

Bryn quickly removed her leg from the girl's grasp as soon as she let go and stood. Her face was red and her eyes were blazing with fury. She had never in her life been so angry. It was hard not to just kill the girl before her, so to attempt dignity she would brush the debris and dirt from her clothing.
She would turn and face the girl, her face still hot with anger. Was this honestly happening to her. With her voice steady yet cold she would speak, her eyes never leaving the girl.
"What are you talking about? I can't help you with anything nor am I the first step in whatever it is you are doing. If I were you I would explain quickly or I will leave, and I promise you I will leave, and this time nothing you do will be able to stop me"
